Recorder time!

Many students have asked about the possibility of purchasing their own recorders. Purchasing your own is NOT mandatory since Tyson will be providing all 3rd-5th grade students with their very own recorder! However, the coolest thing about recorders is that they are so widely available. Check out a nearby Walmart or local music shop. In the music room we use soprano recorders. Soprano recorders usually cost between $2-$25.
Encourage your student to press play on the play-along videos below. Don’t have a recorder? No worries, practice reading the notes and singing along!

Here is another fun thing to do with your students: look up recorder covers of your favorite pop songs or songs from favorite movies or games. Medhat Mamdouh is a professional recorder player who has a whole playlist of recorder beatboxing and hip hop to check out (see link below).
