Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade & 3rd grade:
K-3 students participate in two 30 minute music classes per week. Every student receives a daily effort grade. Effort grades are based on the Alaska Standards for Music Citizenship, which looks at the students efforts to:
-Follow classroom & instrument procedures
-Practice audience, performer and/or conductor behavior
-Recognize and read musical notation
-Make use of vocal and instrumental skills
-Experience, celebrate and participate in music from cultures all around the world

4th & 5th grade
4th and 5th grade students participate in one hour long music class per week. In addition to receiving a weekly effort grade, 4th and 5th grade students also receive a weekly academic grade based on their participation in:
-Written and aural assignments
-Note reading and playing tests
-Reflections and self-grading
